Ask for Deferred Payment Because of poor Market Conditions
Dear Ms.Bell,
Your Invoice No.321 for $34,000
This account is now due,and I am writing to ask you to give us a slightly extended period in which to complete the payment.
Our cash flow has entered upon a seasonal flat spot, aggravated by unexciting market conditions. To be pessimistic,it may be several months before we see a strong upturn. However, you will be reassured to know that our business has a sound net asset position with underlying strengths in its product line.We have taken immediate action to counter adverse trading conditions by reducing our expenditure, and will see a more positive cash flow out of stocks over the next few months.
I would ask that we be allowed to pay your account by three monthly remittances of $10,000,with a final adjustment in the fourth month.I enclose our initial cheque for $10,000 now.
It would be difficult for us to make a more substantial commitment at the moment, and I trust you will be able to accept our proposal as the quickest way of clearing your account.
Yours sincerely,
